GantyBlazer

Ganty Blazer carries very old blood lines, and would be one of the last stallions closely related to the famous 15.2 hh Dundrum, who was ridden so successfully by Tommy Wade, jumping seven foot two inches in Wembly in the sixties. Dundrum was by Little Heaven, who is four generations back on both Ganty Blazer's sire and dam's sides.
Bred by the late Joe McNamara from Craughwell, Co. Galway, it shows the vision this man had for good athletic animals, as the Ganty prefix ponies are exported all over the world, and are all noted for their performances, both in show-jumping and eventing.
Ganty Champ, his sire, was exported to New Zealand and was used on horses and purebred Connemaras, and was very successful, having bred the Reserve Champion horse of New Zealand. He also has two stallion sons standing in New Zealand to carry on the famous Ganty line.
His dam, Polar Spring, carries the Carna Dun bloodline, and was owned by the late Lord Mountbatton. After his untimely death, Polar Spring was acquired by the McNamara family, and her last foal was the now twenty-two year old Ganty Blazer.

Performance

Ganty Blazer himself has bred many good performances ponies, again most of them being exported to Europe and America with one of his sons competing at top level in America. Another of his successful stallion sons was the very athletic grade A showjumper, "Field of Dreams", who was competed in England, and owned by local producer Brian Taggart.

Since Ganty Blazer came to the Ardville Stud, he has been used on both hunter type and pure bred Connemara ponies, leaving some very nice stock on the ground. At the February 2008 Connemara sale in Cavan a yearling filly by him was sold for the second highest price paid for a yearling. His part-bred yearling son was shown lightly in 2007 with wins and placings in all his outings, including a reserve Youngstock Championship. The stud also has a three year old colt by Ganty Blazer due for stallion inspection in early April 2008.
At twenty two years of age, Ganty Blazer can still demonstrate three excellent paces, and correct movement. He has a very kind temperament, which he passes on to his stock. He is still very fertile, and is available to all mares.
